SM Data Now Distributing IBM ProFibre and Mylex RAID storage products in Spain

Barcelona, February 12, 2002 – SM DATA, the Spanish distributor specialized in SCSI and Fibre Channel storage solutions, announced that it is the first distributor in Spain to be authorized to distribute IBM ProFibre Storage Array RAID subsystems and JBOD storage enclosures.

SM DATA will distribute ProFibre storage subsystems and enclosures and IBM’s Mylex brand RAID controllers to its OEM customers, value-added resellers (VARs) and system integrators. Customers can choose from a wide range of products, from entry level to high performance PCI RAID controllers to external subsystems for storage area network (SAN), network attached storage (NAS), and clustered server environments.

Designed with SANs and external storage needs in mind, the high density subsystem products include the 2Gigabit fibre channel-based ProFibre DF4000R 15-bay RAID subsystem and DF4000J storage enclosure, and the Ultra 160 SCSI-based ProFibre DL2000J enclosure.

IBM’s Mylex brand PCI to SCSI RAID controllers are designed for use with entry level to midrange servers or with external JBOD enclosures, and include the high performance eXtremeRAID 2000 and entry level AcceleRAID 170, 170LP and 352 RAID controllers.
