Following the LSI Logic acquisition of IBM’s Mylex Business Unit, SM DATA will distribute LSI Logic’s complete line of storage products

Barcelona, 11^th February 2003 – SM DATA, a leading Spanish Value Added Distributor, specialising in high end and high performance storage networking solutions, has signed a distribution agreement to supply LSI Logic’s complete range of storage adapter products (RAID Storage Adapters, SCSI and Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters) to the Spanish market.

In 2000, LSI Logic’s acquisition of American Megatrends’ (AMI) RAID business, engineering teams and technology brought the feature-rich MegaRAID line of products to the existing LSI Logic HBA portfolio. Products range from low-cost, host-based solutions that transform a motherboard’s own IDE channels into high-performance MegaRAID channels, to intelligent SCSI RAID solutions for high-performance, high-capacity storage environments. In July 2002 LSI Logic’s position in the PCI RAID segment was further strengthened by the acquisition of the Mylex RAID technology, products and engineering groups from IBM Corporation.

The distribution agreement between LSI Logic and SM Data also covers the ProFibre™ storage array family from LSI Logic Storage Systems. The 2 Gb/sec Fibre Channel array combines high reliability in an easy-to-manage SAN solution with simplified interconnectivity, and is scalable up to 8.8 TB using 73 GB drives.
